June 14, 2014 - Jesenec 1 Haná Prostějov B 1

A busy day in Dzbel

The village of Jesenec

June 14, 2014 - Okresní Přebor Prostějov - 8th division
Jesenec 1 Haná Prostějov B 1
Attendance - 50

Overall, it was an awful season for Haná.  The ¨A¨ team dropped out of the 6th division just before the 2nd half of the season was about the begin, and the ¨B¨ team finished last in the Okresní Přebor Prostějov.

The last game of the season meant very little, as Jesenec had already won the league and promotion to 1 B třída - 7th division.  For Haná, it just meant the end of a difficult season.

Jesenec is a village of about 340 people located 24km from Prostějov.  The club actually plays in Dzbel, population 250, which is 1km from Jesenec.  Getting to the village is not a huge problem because a direct train runs from Prostějov to Dzbel.  However, the trains are not very frequent on the weekends, so you might have a few extra hours to kill in Dzbel if you miss your train.  The pitch is only about 50m from the train station, and it has to be one of my favourite places to watch football in the Prostějov region.

As for the game, Haná scored on the last play, and got a deserved point.  Haná Prostějov will just have one team next season playing in the Okresní Přebor.

June 8th, 2014 - Blatec 9 Město Libavá 0

June 8, 2014
III třída - Olomouc - 9th division
Blatec 9 Město Libavá 0
Att - 45

Blatec has around 500 people and is very much a satellite community of Olomouc because it is only 8km south.  The local football team has bounced around the 8th and 9th divisions for the past few years.  I actually saw a pre-season match in Blatec back in 2002.

The football pitch is located only 100m from the train stop, which makes it a perfect place to visit if you are travelling by train.  However, my main reason for visiting was to see Město Libavá.  Going into the game they had lost all previous 24 games, and I was hoping they could get a surprise result.  Obviously, that did not happen.  I have seen worse teams than Libavá, so I am not sure how they have not picked up at least one point this season.  They have a young, athletic team, but they do seem to be lacking some tactical play, even at this level.  Their keeper had a fantastic game, and received little or no defensive help all game.

On a side note, Město Libavá lost last weekend, and finished the season with a record of 0-0-26.

Brodek u Prostějova 7 Haná Prostějov 0

June 1st, 2014
Okresní Přebor Prostějov - 8th division
Brodek u Prostějova 7 Haná Prostějov 0
Attendance - 90

Brodek u Prostějova is a village of 1500 located about 15km south of Prostějov.  The village does not have a train station, but it is possible to reach by bus as it is on the road to Brno.  The last bus leaving the village towards Prostějov leaves around 20:30.

Ten years ago, Brodek played in the Olomoucký kraj 1 B třída (7th division).  They finished fourth from bottom.  A year later, they finished in the exact same position, but despite this still dropped down a level.

The stadium is located about 100m from the centre of the village.  The main stand is actually quite decent for the level of football.  Radegast is on draft for 21kc, so not a bad way to spend a warm Sunday late afternoon.

The game was horrendous from the view point of a supporter of Haná.  The less said the better.

Sokol Polkovice

Polkovice is a small village of 500 people located 15km south of Přerov.  The football team currently plays in the 9th level of football in the Czech Republic - Okresní soutěž skupina A Přerov.  In the past, Sokol Polkovice played in Okres Prostějov, but they switched back to Okres Prostějov for the 2007/08 season.

Organized football began in the village in the late 1950's and it was in 1957 that the football field was constructed.  Their greatest success came when they played in the 8th level Okresní Přebor in the Přerov region.  They have struggled over the past few years, typically finishing near the bottom of their league.
