November 17, 2018 - Czech Republic U19 2 Macedonia U19 1

November 17, 2018 - UEFA U19 qualifier in Kroměříž
Czech Republic U19 2 Macedonia U19 1
Attendance - 600

My wife is Macedonian, so I thought a short trip to Kroměríž would be a good idea to support the Macedonians.  As expected, the temperature was freezing and the wind most certainly did not help.  I was surprised that a few hundred people bothered to show up.  Kroměříž has hosted a few women's and youth internationals over the past year or two.  The stadium is a perfect set up for such matches.

There were a few Macedonians at the match, some who came from Macedonia and a few others who live in the Czech Republic.  The hosts desereved the win, but at least the visitors made a game of it with a goal in the 2nd half.

November 11, 2018 - Velké Losiny 8 Černovír 1

November 11, 2018 - Olomoucký Krajský Přebor - 5th tier
Velké Losiny 8 Černovír 1
Attendance - 100

The football club in Velké Losiny was established in 1947.  For a small town near the Jeseniký mountains, the club has done well.  The village has a population of around 2,800 and is worth a visit, not only for football.  It is possible to go on tour of the Baroque-style chateau as well as the oldest handmade papermill in Europe.

Velké Losiny played in the Czech Republic 4th tier between 2000 and 2006 and again between 2007 and 2010.  For the past 8 years, they have been playing in the 5th tier.  The stadium is situated with a nice view of the hills, and has an old stand.

Černovír has a small group of ultras, which is quite rare at this level of football in the Czech Republic.  Around 20 made the trip for the last match before the winter break.  In only took a few minutes for them to celebrate, as Černovír struck early.  However, the hosts scored 8 goals unanswered to take the three points.

November 4th, 2018 - Handball - Kostelec na Hané 25 HBC Olomouc 24

November 4th, 2018 - 3rd tier handball
Kostelec na Hané 25 HBC Olomouc 24
Attendance - 83

Kostelec is a village only 5km from Prostějov, which makes it an easy place to reach.  The local football team plays in the 6th tier, but the town has always been a handball town.  In the early 2000's. Kostelec played in the 1st tier of handball in a joint Czech and Slovak league.  They hosted the biggest clubs, but now they have been playing in the 3rd tier for 10 years and have been struggling to get out of it.  I get the feeling that after a few years of playing at the top, they are satisfied to be playing at their current level.

Oct 19, 2018 - 7th tier - Mostkovice 2 Kovalovice 2 (Mostkovice won on penalties)

Oct 19, 2018 - Olomoucky Kraj - 7th tier
Mostkovice 2 Kovalovice 2 (Mostkovice won on penalties)
Attendance - 70

A rare chance to watch a league football match under the lights in Prostějov.  This was a make up game for the once which was cancelled back in September.  I have lived here for 11 years now, and I think this was only the 2nd time I had watched a game under the lights.  The crowd was probably split 50/50 in terms of support which gave a decent atmosphere for once.

September 30, 2018 - Haná Prostějov 1 Pivín 3

September 30, 2018
Olomoucký Kraj 1 B třída - 7th tier
Haná Prostějov 1 Pivín 3
Attendance - 100

Haná Prostějov had a rare chance to play a home match on grass a few weeks back again Pivín.  The match kicked off at the non traditional time of 10:00 on a Sunday morning because SK Prostějov were at home the day before.  The visitors were undefeated going into this match, and the hosts had not won a match all season.  Nothing changed in this respect, but Haná did make a match of it. At least it was sunny.

Now, as of October 16th, Haná have still not won a match after 11 played.

September 29, 2018 - Hodonín 3 Rymářov 1

September 29, 2018
MSFL - 3rd tier
Hodonín 3 Rymářov 1
Attendance - 180

Hodonín is known around the Czech Republic as the birthplace of Tomáš Masaryk who went on to become the first President of the Czech Republic.  Hodonín is tucked away in the southeastern part of the country a few kilometres from the Slovak border, and is well worth a visit since it is in the wine region of the Czech Republic.

The football stadium has a huge track around it, but the crumbling nature of it makes it a must visit.  Visiting is certainly something that local football fans are not doing, as only 180 bothered to show up.  I was a little surprised at the 50kc entrance fee, but it has been a few years since I last watched a 3rd tier match outside of Prostějov.

I would have loved to read more about the history of the stadium, because the capacity is quite large for a small football club.

Petrov u Strážnice

Petrov has a population of 1,300 and it is in the heart of the wine making region in South Moravia.  It is best known for old wine cellars, and most certainly not football.  The local side plays in the 8th tier.  The club was founded in May 1931 and from what I understand have bounced around the 8th, 9th and 10th tiers.

September 23, 2018 - 9th tier - Biskupice 3 Želeč 0

September 23, 2018
Okres Prostějov - III třída - 9th tier
Biskupice 3 Želeč 0
Attendance - 45

This was my first trip to Biskupice in 9 years, a small village of 300 people close to Prostějov.  It is not the easiest place to reach by bus, so this was another cycling trip for me.  The facilities in Biskupice are about what you would expect for a 9th tier side.  Not many people were at the match, but the weather was far from ideal and most would not want to sit outside watching 9th tier football.  A few people from the village wandered back and forth from their homes during the match.  Despite the low level, the match was interesting enough but play dropped off in the 2nd half.

September 9, 2018 - Tovačov 5 Haná Prostějov 2

September 9, 2018
Olomoucký kraj - 1 B třída - 7th tier
Tovačov 5 Haná Prostějov 2
Attendance 190

I had been to Tovačov three or four times in the past to watch Haná Prostějov play, so my trip a few weeks back was nothing too interesting.  As such, I decided to go by bike along the bike and tractor paths.  In the end it took me around 24km each way, with the most difficult part close to Tovačov in the forest.

The town is well worth a visit for football and a stop for a tour at the local chateau.  There are also a number of carp ponds around the town, which adds to the draw.  The local football side is also well supported, for the level, and they have a small stand which overlooks the chateau tower.
