June 20th, 2010 - Olomoucký Kraj - Okres Jeseník - II třída - Skorošice 1 Baník Kobylá 0

July 20th
Olomoucký Kraj - Okres Jeseník - II třída
Skorošice 1 Baník Kobylá 0
Attendance: 30
Admission: 10kc
Game rating: 6/10

Well, Skorošice (population 780) was certainly a difficult place to reach from Prostějov. More so on the way back, as I had to walk back to Žulová and then take four trains and a bus. That is what I get for going a small village on a weekend. All in all, it took me almost five hours to get back home. Five hours to go 140 kilometers!

The pitch was easy enough to find as it is on the edge of the town. However, in such a small place as Skorošice, everything is easy to find. It was quite a basic set up, with a few benches lining the sides of the pitch. The club house and bar were located across the road.

The II třída is the lowest level of football in the Okres Jeseník, while other areas of Moravia go down to the 10th level. There are many small villages in this area, and most of them cannot support a football club. So, there is no relegation, only promotion.

Kobylá going into the game had one win, one draw, and twenty seven losses. However, on the day they certainly deserved better against Skorošice. They seemed more organized in the back compared to the last time I saw them, and actually managed to create a few excellent scoring chances. The only thing which held them back was their poor finishing. On a few occasions they just had to tap the ball into the net. Too bad, as they were the better team on the day.

June 14th - Olomoucký Kraj - Prostějov Okres - IV Třída Skupina B - FC Morávia Doloplazy 5 Sokol Ivaň 0

June 14th, 2009
Olomoucký Kraj - Prostějov Okres - IV Třída Skupina B
FC Morávia Doloplazy 5 Sokol Ivan 0
attendance: 50
admission: by donation
beer: 20kc for an unknown brand of beer
game rating: 6/10

I had intended to go to the Dobromilice against Přemyslovice game, which was the II Třída. However, when I got to the village I saw that no one was at the field. Later, I found out that the visitors did not show up, and thus Dobromilice were awarded a 3-0 victory. I should also mention this was the last game of the season. With those three points awarded by default, Dobromilice escaped relegation by one point. Now, if I was the club that was relegated, I would not be too happy that Dobromilice escaped relegation by winning a default game.

Dobromilice is only 2km from Doloplazy, so I walked the short distance and caught the Doloplazy-Ivan game. This was my second time in Doloplazy, as I had previously been there last Spring. The hosts ran away with the game, which was a little surprising, considering they were in last place, and the visitors in second.

May 31/09 - Olomoucký Kraj - 1. B Třída - Skupina A - Tovačov 3 Haná Prostějov 1

May 31st, 2009
Olomoucký Kraj - 1. B Třída - Skupina A (7th tier)

Tovačov 3 Haná Prostějov 1
attendance: 150
game rating: 5/10
admission: 15kc

Tovačov is a small town of around 2,000 people located about 20km to the east of Prostějov. It is well known, for its carp ponds, and a beautiful chateau. To get to the town, I had to take a bus to the hamlet of Klopotovice and then walk around 3km to Tovačov. I repeated the same journey on the walk back. During the work week, there are many buses between Prostějov and Tovačov, but not on the weekends.

Both clubs were promoted last season from their respective divisions, and it has been Prostějov who have enjoyed more success. Tovačov struggled early in the season, but they have since found their feet, and have had some respectable results.

The ground is located a short walk from the town centre, and just behind the chateau. It has an old stand, and a few small cement steps opposite the stand.

As for the game. Prostějov never really looked into the game, and the hosts certainly deserved the three points.

May 30/09 - Gambrinus Liga - Sigma Olomouc 3 Bohemians Praha 0

May 30th, 2009
Gambrinus Liga (1st tier)

Sigma Olomouc 3 Bohemians Praha 0
attendance: 3500
game rating: 6/10
admission: 70kc

Well, a few weeks ago Sigma played their last game of the season. Going into the game they sat in fifth place, one point behind Mlada Boleslav who were at home to Sparta Praha. Sigma had to win, and hope that Mlada Boleslav lost or tied Sparta. If this happened, Sigma would get a spot in the inaugural 2009/10 Europa League. The last time Olomouc played in the UEFA Cup was back in 2002/03 against FK Sarajevo. I was at the game in Sarajevo, and sadly Sigma lost out on penalties.

My favourite place to sit at Andruv Stadion is up high in the southern stand. It is quite steep for a smaller ground, and you can get a great view of the match. Attendance on the day was quite small, which is normal for the last game of the season. However, I was slightly surprised as this game meant a lot for Sigma. The guests were the 'fake' Bohemians, and not Bohemians 1905, who just won promotion back to the Gambrinus Liga for the 2009/10 season.

Bohemians Praha never looked in the game, and by the second half the result was never in doubt. Despite the small attendance, you could see how much getting a spot in the Europa League meant to the supporters and players. Back in the late 90's and early 00's, Sigma was a regular fixture in European competitions. I'm eagerly awaiting the 2nd qualifying round draw on June 22nd to see who Sigma will play. It could be a good away trip...
