The facilities in Brodek are quite good for an 8th tier team in a small town.  Not many clubs in this area, and at this level have an actual covered stand.  However, it seems that the local teenagers use it more for their graffiti rather than watching the local side.

Going into this game, Haná Prostějov were in 1st place by only 2 points over Vrahovice, making this away game in Brodek crucial.  Hana played a 'professional', well disciplined  match, and fully deserved the three points.

Sokol I Prostějov was formed in 1996, but nohejbal has been played in Prostějov since the 1970's. The current men's team plays in the 2nd tier of nohejbal in the Czech Republic, which is a nation wide competition.  The sport was invented in the Czech Republic 1922, but it was not until 1936 that the first official rules were written.  The World Championships were held in Brno November 2016.

Nohejbal is played in singles, doubles and triples.  A team must win 6 matches to win the series, which can take 2-3 hours or more.

If you ever go to Vícov by bus, pay attention to which bus you are taking.  The village has a population of 516 people, and is located only 12km from Prostějov.  However, if you are not careful, you might take a 45 minute bus ride.  I do not think that I have ever been on such a long bus ride to go such a short distance.

The pitch is about a 5 minute walk from the centre of the village.  Opposite the pitch is a pub which serves beer from Prostějov, which I would recommend as it is not that easy to find.

I do not remember too much about this match as it was 23 years ago, but one thing I remember there was a huge amount of Italians at Foxborough (a town of 16,000 near Boston).  There was a small pocket of Nigerian supporters, but their voices weren't heard that much.  I really do wish I could remember more about the day and the match.

Nigeria scored first in the 25th minute, and Roberto Baggio scored a late goal in the 88th minute to send the match into extra-time.  Baggio scored on a penalty in the 102nd minute to help send Italy through to the next round.

Přemylsovice is a village of 1300 people located only 14km from Prostějov.  As a result, it is quite easy to reach by car but not so easy by public transportation on the weekends.  Instead of a 15 minute car ride it took me almost 2 hours to reach after a train ride, and a 4km hike from Stražisko to Přemylsovice.

The game was free, or at least no one was walking around with a little bucket for money.  Beer was almost non existent, but at the last moment a few volunteers walked in with a keg.  Usually, Přemyslovice has a little room which serves as a pub, but this appears to be now closed.  At least the beer wa cold.
