Futsal - Okres Prostejov - December 22, 2019

Okres Prostějov - futsal - 5th tier in the Czech Republic
December 22, 2019

With the lack of sporting events around the Christmas period, I made the short trip to Kostelec na Hané by bike to watch some 5th tier futsal.

November 17, 2019 - 8th tier - Náklo 0 Sigma Hodolany 3

November 17, 2019 - 8th tier - Olomoucký kraj
Náklo 0 Sigma Hodolany 3
Attendance - 170

The last football match for me, until the winter break, came last weekend in Náklo.  The village has a population of around 1,500 and it is located not too far from Olomouc.  It is a popular destination for swimmers, because of a local pond.

The visitors last Sunday were from Hodolany.  They usually get 250-450 fans a match, which is unheard of in the Czech 8th tier.  The fans are active as well, chanting and singing throughout matches.  Around 70 supporters were at the match in Náklo.

November 2, 2019 - 7th tier - Velká Bystřice 0 Haná Prostějov 2

November 2, 2019 - Olomoucký Kraj - 7th tier
Velká Bystřice 0 Haná Prostějov 2
Attendance - 60

This was my second trip to Velká Bystřice, as my first was around 10 years ago.  Velká Bystřice is located not far from Olomouc, so I decided to talk around 8km instead of taking the train.  The town is more known, at least locally, for handball.  The ground is rather non-descript, and nothing too interesting about it.  Haná played a smart away match, and kept the hosts from having any real scoring opportunities.  This was the last match for both clubs until the end of March 2020 when the season restarts after the winter break.

October 19, 2019 - SK Prostějov 2 Viktoria Žižkov 1

October 19, 2019 - Czech 2nd division
SK Prostějov 2 Viktoria Žižkov 1
Attendance - 656

With nothing better to do on a Saturday afternoon, I decided to make my way to a SK Prostějov match.  I usually try to go to two or three home matches a year when nothing else is happening.  Tickets are now up to 80kc, but for this match the club was offering a free beer/soft drink and a sausage with the ticket.

The first 30 minutes of the match were horrible.  Thankfully, things picked up in the last 60 minutes and I think that Prostějov in the ended were deserving of the three points.

September 29, 2019 - Slatinice 5 Haná Prostějov 1

September 29, 2019 - Olomoucký kraj - 1 B třída - 7th tier
Slatinice 5 Haná Prostějov 1
Attendance - 100

The main pitch of Slatinice is under reconstruction, so this match was played on the 2nd pitch, located just across the road.  Facilities were basic, but the grass was in fantastic condition.  The visitors were in poor form from the 25th minute when one of their defenders got a red card.  Slatinice also got a red card on the same play, but Haná could not recover from losing of their key defenders.

September 14, 2019 - Dub n. Moravou 7 Haná Prostějov 0

September 14, 2019 - Olomoucký kraj - 1 B třída - 7th tier
Dub n. Moravou 7 Haná Prostějov 0
Attedance - 220

On a beautiful September weekend, I went by bike to Dub from Prostějov, which is about 20km.  It took me a little longer, because I usually take field paths and stay off the main road.  The cycling part of the day was the best part, and most certainly not the football.

Dub was in first place going into this match, and Haná in second.  Unfortunately for Haná, they were missing three starters in the back line and a few others throughout the line-up.  The first half was even, and the guests were unlucky not to have scored a goal.  Dub took advantage of this, and scored in the last minute of the first half.

The second half was a disaster.  The less said the better.

September 4, 2019 - Okres Šumperk SF - Brníčko 0 Mohelnice 10

September 4, 2019 - Okres Šumperk Cup SF
Brníčko 0 Mohelnice 10
Attendance - 35

These district qualifiers are played throughout the Czech Republic, and are early round qualifiers for the 2020/21 Czech Cup.  A few weeks back, I went to Brníčko, a small village of 600 people located near Šumperk.

I took a direct train from Prostějov to Postřelmov which took about 1 hour, and from there I walked 6km over the hills to Brníčko.  On the way back, I was able to catch a bus back to Postřelmov which saved a little time.

I do not have much to say about this match.  Brníčko play in the 9th tier, while Mohelnice play in the 5th tier.  It was great to see a club like Brníčko play in the local cup, because many clubs do not even bother.  Unfortunately for them, they were over-matched.  Despite the poor condition of the pitch, the visitors dominated, which I guess is to be expected.  The match also kicked off at 16:00 on a Wednesday afternoon.  Not ideal, but not much can be done when most clubs do not have lights.

Czech Cup - 2nd round - August 28, 2019 - Olešnice 0 Opava 6

Czech Cup - 2nd round
August 28, 2019
Olešnice 0 Opava 6
Attendance - 900

Olešnice u Bouzova is a small village of around 150 people, and I am sure they are the smallest village ever to make it this far in the Czech Cup.  Currently, they are playing in the 6th tier, while their opponents on the day, Opava, are in the 1st tier.  To get to this match, Olešnice defeated a 4th tier club, and a 3rd tier club.  Their home ground is under construction, so they are playing the majority of their matches in near-by Bouzov.  However, for the match vs Opava, they had to play in Mohelnice, which not too long ago had a 3rd tier club.

The hosts tried hard, but only had one proper shot on goal.  Unfortunately, this was one of the worst football matches I have watched in recent years.  It was also 32C at kickoff, which probably did not help my opinion.

August 24, 2019 - Moravský Beroun 4 Haná Prostějov 5

August 24, 2019 - Olomoucký kraj - 1 B třída - 7th tier
Moravský Beroun 4 Haná Prostějov 5
Attendance - 73

This was my second trip to Moravský Beroun, but my first one for football.  The town has a population of 2,957 and an elevation of around 600m.  Unfortunately, the town is going through some social-economic problems as of late, which have been reported in the media.  Despite this, it is still a nice stop for a few hours if you are in the area for hiking or for football.

I believe this was the first time Haná has ever played in the town.  Moravský Beroun has spent much of the past few decades bouncing around the 6th and 7th tiers.  They have a compact little ground, with a small stand.  However, on one side of the stand, it is impossible to see the goal.

The match was very physical by both sides, and featured attacking football.  The hosts had a lead of 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, 4-3, but the visitors scored two late goals to take three points back to Prostějov.
