April 14, 2013 - OFS Olomouc - IV třída - Drahanovice 4 Tršice 1

April 14, 2013 - OFS Olomouc - IV třída, skupina B (10th tier)
Drahanovice 4 Tršice 1
Attendance - 160
Admission - 20 kc

Drahanovice is a small town of around 1,700 roughly located between Prostějov and Olomouc.  Currently, they sit in first place, and are looking for promotion at the end of the season.  They have not played in the 9th tier of Czech football since the 2008/2009 season.  The visitors, Tršice, have spent the past 7 or 8 years in the 10th tier of football.  The village is best known for having a few locals who protected some Jewish people during WWII.

Getting to Drahanovice from Prostějov was quite easy.  You just have to take a direct train from Prostějov which takes about 35 minutes, even though it is just 15km away.  The pitch is about a 10 minute walk from the train station, and is located opposite a large pond.  The facilities were quite basic, with a few benches on one side of the pitch.  Most of the people who were at the game sat beside the pub, and seemed to be more interested in drinking beer and talking rather than watching football.

The hosts thoroughly deserved the victory, and showed why they were in first place.  The visitors struggled to attack, and were reduced to playing off of the counter.  Unfortunately, chances for them were very hard to come by.

August 4th, 2002 - FC Synot 1 Sigma Olomouc 1

August 4th, 2002
FC Synot 1 Sigma Olomouc 1
Attendance - 2753 (away support 50-75)

FC Synot were a club that was based in Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště (population 6.700).  They were established in 1927 as Staré Město.  In 2000 the club merged with Slovácká Slavia Uherské Hradiště.  Four years later, the club left Staré Město and went down the road (literally) to Uherské Hradiště.  It was there that the club took on the name of Slovácko.

I believe this was my first ever Sigma Olomouc away game, and as a Canadian, I really had my head in the sand when it came to away travel in Europe.  I do not remember much from the trip or the game, but I do remember police greeting us at the train station, and seeing police at every single corner.  The stadium was quite small, and the away section was just a few wooden benches with metal bars surrounding the entire section.

Some might remember that a few years later (2004), FC Synot, were involved in a better scandal just before the club left for Uherské Hradiště.  One more link can be found here.

August 28, 2007 - Czech Cup 2nd round - Konice (4th tier) 0 Sigma Olomouc 0

August 28th, 2007
Czech Cup 2nd round
Konice (4th tier) 0 Sigma Olomouc 0 (Konice advanced 5-4 on pk's)
Attendance - 1,500

At the time, Konice were in the 4th tier, which was quite impressive for the small town not far from Prostějov.  It was, arguably, around this time that they achieved their best success.  I do not remember much from this game, but what I do remember was the shock of seeing Sigma Olomouc lose to a 4th tier opponent.  This just did not happen very often in the Czech Cup.

The facilities were basic, with one old wooden stand, which meant most people had to stand or sit on the grass surrounding the pitch.  Around 30-40 Sigma ultras made the trip.

Konice currently play in the 5th tier of Czech football, and have not had much success since their shock win over Sigma.
